Pizza Express – The Wave

Pizza Express (Telephone: 2455 4777 – Map) has opened its branch in The Wave, Muscat a while ago, but I never got the chance to review it. I am a big fan of Pizza Express and I have originally reviewed it in the year 2008. The branch I am reviewing here is located in the commercial area of The Wave right next to Shang Thai.

The indoors dining area of Pizza Express at The Wave is gorgeous, it is very bright, colorful, and contemporary. There are a variety of table layouts that can accommodate different groups. Pizza Express also has outdoor seatings which do not currently really overlook anything special, but still could probably be a nice place to dine out when the weather is nice.

I went to Pizza Express on a weekday and the restaurant was relatively busy, but I still did not have any problem finding a table.

The menu of Pizza Express has a selection of starters, salads, pizzas, and pastas. For the starter I can never resist having my favorite Garlic Bread with Mozzarella (RO 2.100) which I found to be as good as ever when had with balsamic vinegar (OC  tip!).

For the main course I had one of the new Romana Pizzas which are meant to be a little bigger, thinner, and crispier.  The one I ordered was Etna (RO 5.200) and it had soft beef sausage, jalapeño, slices of veal meat, and grana padano cheese.  It was really hard to tell the difference between this pizza and the regular pizzas except when you put them side by side to notice that it is in fact bigger, which is not really a bad thing. I still enjoyed it a lot as it turned out to be hot just the way  liked it and the veal was really nice, too.

For the dessert we had the toffee fudge glory – basically a cup of frozen toffee pieces served with ice cream. I found the toffee to be too hard and cold in a way that I did not enjoy, so unless you are a fan of frozen hard toffee I don’t suggest that you try this dessert.

In total we had 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 dessert, and a large bottle of water. Our bill came to RO 17.560.

I thought that the service at Pizza Express was OK, but not great. It was really hard to get the attention of the only waiter who seemed to be casually serving the whole restaurant.

I still thought that my experience at Pizza Express was good, I thought the starters and the mains we amazing, I am not really a big fan of any of the desserts at Pizza Express though. I really love the look and atmosphere at this restaurant and would surely be coming here again.

Have you guys been to any of the restaurants at The Wave?

Yes I went there. I feel Tuscany restaurant pizzas are much better than pizza express in my opinion. I’ve tried salmon pizza but it wasnt tasty at all. I like their salad especially Busco salad. It is one of my favorite

    I been there
once, the food was good but the only concern was to the Service. 1 waiter cant serve the whole place. overall i gave it 7/10 🙂

I been there too. It was special and quite joyful for us kids. Dad invited a friend and his wife who took their two daughters with us. We were very pleased to make us our own pizza. Mom loved the food so much. There pizzas are good and taste fresh unlike oily smelling others. Mom said it is because pizza express uses olive oil and quality flour. We all loved it so much and we so go with mom for good food every now and then. We know the brand from home in London.
