Chado Tea Lounge – Shatti Al Qurum

Chado (Telephone: 2469 1110 – Map) is a fancy tea lounge located in Oasis by the Sea mall in Shatti Al Qurum. It’s actual location is right next to Pizza Express inside Oasis by the Sea, but it also has seating area outside outlooking the ocean.

Chado looks extremely elegant and colorful from the inside with marble and woodwork and has a special private room where you can have a quiet meeting or just a little gathering over tea. However, the most awesome thing about the seating area at Chado is not the gorgeous indoor section, but the outdoor seating area outlooking the ocean. The place outside gets usually fully taken quickly in the late afternoon and at night, especially during the cooler times of the year.

The menu of Chado contains a variety of black teas, green teas, herbal teas, white teas, iced teas, and a collection of rare and speciality teas. Chado also serves a variety of Illy coffees, mocktails,  juices and a few sandwiches and salads. During my visit to Chado I tried a few things such as the Illy Crema (pictured above) which was basically an Illy coffee frap topped with cream, I also tried the Tunisian Tea – a green tea with mint and pine nuts. Both of the things I tried were really great and I enjoyed having them.

The majority of drinks at Chado cost between RO 1.500 to RO 3.000. It is possible to order bigger tea pots to share the tea.

Having tea at Chado can be somewhat of a novelty as some teas are served in nice looking pots and glasses and are served with crystalized sugar stick, golden saffron sugar cubes, dried raspberries, or possibly something else different.

I enjoyed my time at Chado and I think that it’s a great hangout place for having a light hot drink.
